The Next Generation of Radiance

In short, Broadband Light therapy is like a magic wand for your complexion. As the next generation of intense pulsed light (IPL or “photofacial”) therapy, BBL uses broad-spectrum visible and infrared light to selectively heat the upper layers of the skin. The heat absorbed by these areas then stimulates cells to generate brand-new collagen. This results in skin that is firmer, more even in tone and texture, and more radiant. We are excited to offer this life-changing treatment at our Bakersfield offices.

Better BBL-ieve It: Here’s What to Know

Broadband Light therapy treatments are very gentle and safe, and we will also apply a topical anesthetic if you prefer. We will use the BBL handheld device to deliver quick bursts of light energy directly into the skin. You may experience a low level of discomfort during treatment, which is often described as a warm, light “popping” sensation — almost like a rubber band being snapped lightly on the skin.

During the procedure, your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. The amount of time the treatment takes will depend on the size of the area being treated and the goal of the procedure.

There is virtually no downtime after BBL, and you will be able to resume normal activities immediately after treatment. That said, there may be some redness for several hours. Depending on the treated area, you may also experience some darkening of the skin, followed by fading and flaking off shortly thereafter. Be sure to avoid excessive sun exposure over the weeks following your BBL treatment.

During your consultation with us, we will let you how many BBL treatments you will need. We will need to evaluate your areas of concern and discuss your aesthetic goals first, but in general we recommend 3-5 treatments scheduled 3-4 weeks apart.

How do I know if BBL will work for my skin?

What areas of the body can be treated with BBL?

How do I know if BBL will work for my skin?

BBL is an excellent option for most skin types, including sensitive skin. Before treatment, we will assess your skin in a consultation to determine whether BBL is a good fit for you.

What areas of the body can be treated with BBL?

All areas of the body can be treated, but this procedure is typically used on the most visible parts of your body: the face, chest, and hands.

BBL for Redness and Brown Lesions

Unlike some treatments, BBL delivers precise laser energy to very specific areas of your skin. Each treatment session is customized to meet your skin’s unique needs. The heat absorbed by the upper layers of your skin will stimulate your skin cells to regenerate. If you’re trying to eliminate redness, blood vessels in the upper layers of the skin will absorb the laser energy, which causes them to close. Over the following several weeks, the body will continue the absorption process to destroy vessel remnants. On the other hand, if you’re trying to reduce brown spots, BBL will penetrate the skin to reach the pigment. The leftover particles will peel or slough off within the following week to two weeks.
